Some of you may know this, and some of you may not, but the battle for Net Neutrality is reaching a peak and it's two biggest foes, the MPAA, and the RIAA are becoming far more zealous than usual. COICA (Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeiting Act) is in congress right now, and it's a massive threat that would potentially turn the internet in the states into a monstrosity much like it is in China or Iran. It's not a firewall per se, but it will be making edits to the DNS servers.
Furthermore, software advances allowing any user to put a DVD onto say a flash drive has been outlawed by a California Federal Court. However the Fair Use terms under copyright law clearly state that this type of reproduction is allowed.
As technology becomes more and more a part of our everyday lives and more and more things have their own I.P. addresses, more and more freedoms and rights are being leached away from us.
Perhaps I'm one of the few folks who feels this strongly on the subject, but it's time to draw a line in the sand. Has anybody else been paying attention to and following this? For more information on COICA and other such atrocities you can go to
