Title: Gale Fox's Crackheaded SonicVerse Team Revival Plan!
Post by: Gale Fox on July 05, 2010, 09:24:31 PM
Yeah, we know, SA Tails and the other Higher-ups, scratch that, all of us are in the game to bring SVT to its prosperous fanfiction-every-hour, weekly-manga-speed comic updates. Do to that, this plan has been marinating in my mind since about the other night: The SVT Revival Plan, making it public, that is. Below are some of the aspects of the revival plan I've thought of.

Aspect 1: Advertise!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, isn't this all quite obvious? Advertise! On every forum you are in or every online community whereas this is allowed, especially those with at about 15+ people online an hour, leave the SVT link-box and a short description of the website like this...

Code: [Select]

SonicVerse Team... Where your fancomics come to life!

And that's a small spike in traffic, especially if you're a very openly social poster. Onto the next one!

Aspect 2: Be Active!

Now, isn't this obvious, also? Come everyday, even if you're not posting/writing/uploading a photo/participating in Oekaki; It helps in keeping you informed and allows you to stay up-to-date, check for more activity to see if you need to step your advertising. If you can post and/or whatever else, good, you're adding more content to the website, creating a more elaborate guest browsing session and maybe even attracting more attention and members!

Aspect 3: Communicate/Be Friendly!

Stay in touch with members! Y'know, some people totally forget about their membership! Also, some people don't quite know what RSS Feeds are, and I'm assured at least the tiniest portion of this group are fans of someone's fanfiction on here. And I know from previous experience called forum fail that someone here has an AOL e-Mail address. AIM, Windows Live, ICQ, Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo? Dude, that's a lot of ways to keep in touch!

Aspect 4: CKY: Camp Kill Yourself Cool and Kind, Y'know?

Ragequitters. I'm dead serious, Rage-freaking-quitters. Be nice to your fellow SVT Members. Some people (I'm not quite sure; Maybe newbies or touchy people) will seriously be turned away from this website due to rudeness or disrespect. We all know it's the internet and stuffs, but people, we're talking to other people; We're all human.

Aspect 5: HARDEN THE F**K UP!!

Grox, stop laughing... Anyways, yeah, this title is a reference to Grox's proclamation of this being SVT's slogan. Have site pride, don't post here just because of the people or just because the front page/forums/fanfiction looks good, you gotta have SVT pride, gotta love most everything about here, be it past, present, or future.

And yeah... That's all I've thought of currently; Feel free to contribute to the plans.

I've been trying to restore this site, now I know I've got backup and new ways to do it.

Remember SVT #1 and Grox, you gotta come back to the Fanfiction Section!!!

...Speaking of which, I just noticed something about that... We're all fanfiction authors and Illeana's an artist. Shun the non-writer?

That's a good plan, though I want to concentrate on rebuilding the site first.

I would like to do all that before attempting to attract people here. If you guys wanna try, go ahead. I won't object to it. Maybe try getting old forumers to come back and actually post?

Been trying, working at it though. AND, I WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOWARDS THE REPOPULATION OF SVT!

BUT, until then, Anybody else got any ideas to add to this?

*Thank you for adding what needs to be done SA Tails, At least now we know what the hell the 'Technical Staff' has to do.*

Well, I know I posted a link to my own stories on Camp Sonic, so I guess I'm already in on the plan!  ;D

Actaully - if I could my own bit forwards. AS funny as it is I really don't think that should be this site's slogan. This being a Sonic site, Sonic having children fans. If you want this site to be revived you can't be scaring off or alienating half the users.

Actually... It really isn't our slogan, much to Grox's chagrin, much rather a joke; And considering the children factor, It's not a big deal in my point of view, considering that I am the youngest member here.

I don't know how young you actaully are, but in mental age I've got everyone beat for sure xD Sure, a joke sounds fair enough.

I, hate to admit it, but your right, that really shouldn't be our slogan. So, anybody have any ideas for a site slogan?
Title: Re: Gale Fox's Crackheaded SonicVerse Team Revival Plan!

"Your SonicVerse!"? (but Archia already has 'it's your sonic universe!"
"Imagination at supersonic speeds!" ?
I think it needs to be a twist between a reader, that is, the user, and the SEGA Sonic universe. Such as the mock slogan above.
I'll post back when I've thought of more =)

I honestly thought SVT's slogan was

"SonicVerse Team... Where your comics come to life!"

And the fanfics used to have some witty slogan until the first e-Fiction wipe. We need to stop being cheesy though. Do it Warren the Ape style: Make the site seem more mature/refined, showing its age (It's 11, right?) and users' ages alike (Considering, once again, how old the former members would be).

Problem being SonicVerseTeam is not all about comics *sulks for all fanfic writers like herself* but yes, you are right. That is the caption at the introduction for the site (have I ever mentioned how cool that picture of the hedgehog with the leather jacket looks? I'm mentioning it now.).

Yes, that picture of Sonic is epic, assuming that is Sonic.

AH HA!

....no wait, lost it. dang.

Sonic Verse Team,
The Sonic site supreme.
Where everyone is welcome,
to the place where we have the whole Sonic fan Spectrum.
So come on in and take a seat,
We hope you'll find this place pretty freakin sweet.

There's a slogan for you. I hope it's to everyone's liking.

Grox, you're jus' flaunting your 83 posts >.<

But it's good enough. Freakin' works. Maybe we'll just wait till we're active again and hold a Slogan contest/lottery.

Problem being SonicVerseTeam is not all about comics

WAY back in the day, that was not the case.

Anyway, SVT has a sister site, SegaSonic Station (http://segasonic.theirregulars.net), which is a general Sonic site (it's why there's Comics Zone, Fan Fiction Zone, etc. boards, which are section names on SSS). I have been thinking perhaps transferring the art and fan fiction sections to SSS, and then SVT can specialize in comics. Fan fiction writers and artists can then collaborate on a comic project there, then submit it to SVT. This forum would be the community hub for both sites, along with other projects that The Irregulars (the name of our group) have.

As for slogans, I'm still going to use "Because this time... we got 'em!" for the site itself ('cause it was the original slogan) and "The thrill of adventure awaits you" for the forum, as the official ones. I'm not opposed to a secondary slogan though.

Let me see. In that case, in case of moving Art/Fanfics to S3, I'd personally prefer for the two sites to be in a parallel layout or something. Or have a Joint Fanfiction/Art Database linked from both sites.

I'm thinking that the art/fan fiction would be shared. It would be linked on SVT through its menu and SSS would link back to SVT.

Good plans, we just need to re-populate the site. I figure just by staying here, chatting amiably and keeping up a bubbling community spirit we'll soon attract plenty of users. I don't know about comics, but I know that already in the fanfic section, where I do most of my dabbling, that there have been a few updates to the story bank and new recruits ^.^

Ah, I've been trying to build something like that in the first place, but it hasn't gone that great. The problem is that both sites use frames for layout. I need to use some automation to make each site more user friendly and organized.

Wasn't finding a better Fanfiction System a goal of yours, SA Tails? Well, unfortunately, as I've found it, eFiction is the best out there. As for finding a replacement for Coppermine, I'll run a quick Google check.

I'm busy myself today trying to help the site and stay awake, My sister (Who's known here a SVT number 2 fan) just turned 12 today and I had to help decorate myself late last night because my mom is sick and my dad was stuck at work. I'm not sure how to find fanfiction servers because I haven't been able to figure out about making websites. But one thing I know is that maybe a good way to get info on how to manage a fanfiction area is to find a site with such info. My sister is on fanfiction.net as Twilight Chiu, so maybe I could ask her about how a fanfiction site is best supported. (If she'll let me, cause 90% of the time she just hits me for no reason.)

I just find the journal post about art copyrights on Deviant Art (it also has something to do with getting money from art), it was posted by StatX015, and for those here who have a deviant art account I think you should read this.

The eFiction is really quite broken from the backend of the system, though it's good that it isn't that obvious to the general public. It would be nice to get rid of it, honestly. If it really is the best out there, I think I just died a little inside... Anyway, I'll ask Solar T to reinstall it, once the .com domain is resolved, as it would need to be anyway.

As for the Coppermine gallery... I just want to get rid of it.

My SVT senses were tingling somewhere on Fanfiction >.>

Anyways... No use trying to find FanFiction.Net/FictionPress.Com's software; It's a copyrighted archival system. And yeah, let's get Solar T to reinstall eFiction... If I have all of my stories saved. *Walks off to check his documents folder*

I put in a DNS transfer order for sonicverseteam.com. Emailed Sonic Adventurer with the details. I hope he'll be able to do what he needs to do on his end, as soon as possible.

Can you reiterate that in non-technical wording suitable for regressed and/or degenerate nitwits?

Degenerate nitwit... I like that. XD

In any case, DNS is an abbreviation for domain name system, which handles where a domain(sonicverseteam.com for example) is pointing to. It's so you don't need to memorize a computer's lots-of-numbers IP address to get to your favorite site.

SVT.com is currently loading on top of the SVT.net address, basically piggybacking on it. I started the process to make the .com an actual site address again.

That explain things?
